Turn your PC into a WiFi Hotspot

Step 1: Open CMD by typing CMD in your search bar from Start menu.(I am using Windows 8.1). Right Click on CMD and click on 'Run as administrator'. A PopUp will open. Click on Yes. Now CMD will open with administrator rights.

Step 2: Type "netsh wlan show drivers" and Hit Enter. The output will be something like the image below.
In the output check for the line Hosted network supported :Yes
If found it means that your computer supports hosted networks and you are good to go,else you have to turn back.

Step 3 : Turn your WiFi on. Check your Taskbar for your WiFi settings. Your Computer must have a WiFi built in. Most laptops have it already
Now,go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing. Click on a link on the left side which reads 'Change Adaptor Settings'. A window will open which shows all your Network Connections. Right Click on the connection for which you want to share your Internet. Click on 'Properties'.

Step 4: A PopUp will open. Go to Sharing Tab. Click on the check box as shown below. Click Ok. This will allow other devices to access your Internet connection.

Step 5: Go to cmd and Type "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Hotspotname key=Password". Replace the words Hotspotname with the name you want for your hotspot and password for the password you want to set for your hotspot. Hit Enter. Make sure the password is atleast 8 characters long. This will create a Hotspot but it is currently offline.

Step 6: I know its enough already. Believe me,you are all set. Turn it on by typing "netsh wlan start hostednetwork" in command prompt. You should be getting a WiFi with your assigned name.

Step 7: You can check the status of your WiFi by typing "netsh wlan show hostednetwork"

Step 8: To stop it,type "netsh wlan stop hostednetwork" in command prompt.

You didn't think I will make you work so hard everytime you want your hotspot right ? I will make it simple for you. First make sure your WiFi is on. Make a file on your desktop by right clicking on Destop -> New -> Text Document. Type a name of the text file according to your choice, but no spaces allowed in the file name. Double Click on the file to open it. Type the following line in the text file.
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Save it as shown below.
Make another file on Desktop and type the following in it :
netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
Save it with a different name but the same format.
Now everytime you want some sharing, You can right click on the first file and Click on Run As Administrator to start you Hotspot.
Right click on on the second file and click Run As Administrator to stop your hotspot.
Cool,right ?
I named my files start and stop, just to make sense.

You also have many third party softwares for sharing your Internet connection, but this process is much cleaner. Now in the end its always upto you to make your choice.
